Immediate volunteer needs

Election Day, Nov. 2, is less than a month away and the Kids Voting Coalition is working to offer students in kindergarten through 12th grade an authentic voting experience at the polls. More individual volunteers are needed to help at Kids Voting tables before and after school at polling sites throughout Douglas County on Election Day, including rural voting locations. Volunteer shifts last approximately two hours and may be scheduled at a voting location convenient to the volunteer. For more information or to sign up to volunteer, please contact the Roger Hill Volunteer Center.

The Strategic Learning Center will have its second annual Band Together for Learning event at Liberty Hall on Jan. 22, and volunteers are needed now to make the event a big success. Volunteers will assist with planning the event, making arrangements, fund-raising, and collecting donations for the silent auction. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Strategic Learning Center, a nonprofit tutoring center providing one-on-one and small-group tutoring to students of all ages and backgrounds. For more information, contact Rose Foster, 331-3236

The Salvation Army is looking for three to four new volunteers to serve in the meal program. As the weather cools, the shelter and meal kitchen serve more people in need; caring volunteers are needed and can make a big difference. Volunteers will help prepare and serve the evening meal to shelter guests. For more information, call Christine Cress, 843-4188.
