Wichita Winners: Lawrence’s Steve Riley and Brian Daldorph were age-group winners in Sunday’s Wichita Marathon. Riley won the men’s 50-54 in 2:52:02, a Kansas age-group record. Daldorph won the men’s 45-49 division in 3:21:55. Jason Woolhouse of Lawrence finished third overall in 2:33.40. Age-group runners-up from Lawrence were Ann Cudd and Christine Keeler. Jay Kimmel, Eric Torgerson and Scott Coston also had top-five age-group placings.

Wilson Wins in Des Moines: Dick Wilson of Lawrence won the ages 70-74 division of Sunday’s Des Moines Half-Marathon in a time of 1:36:39 in Des Moines, Iowa. Wilson finished 91st overall in a field of 1,391. Jim Dicker of Lawrence was third in the 55-50 age group and 212th overall.

Birds Honored: Lawrence sisters Danielle Bird and Taylor Bird have been chosen Missouri Valley AAU basketball players of the year for their age groups. Danielle plays for the U-14 Eclipse and Taylor for the U-12 Eclipse. Each attends South Junior High.
