Labels fit

To the editor:

The debates are over, the contentious campaign is drawing to a close and, in a few days, the people will make their choice.

Millions have been spent, promises made, charges hurled and yet it really boils down to basic philosophies.

Kerry is a Massachusetts liberal. He is on record saying that he is proud to wear the liberal label, and his record in the Congress proves it.

If elected he will be guided and governed by that philosophy and it will determine the decisions he makes including appointments, foreign and domestic policies and social issues.

Those who embrace his philosophy should vote for him.

President Bush is a Texas conservative and his record as governor and president leaves no doubt about it.

If re-elected he will be guided by those conservative principles in foreign and domestic policies and social issues and the appointments he makes.

Those who embrace his philosophy should vote for him.

Some people don’t like to be labeled, so they use words like moderate, independent, undecided, but in the privacy of the voting booth they will be guided by whether they lean toward liberalism or conservatism.

Much time, money and effort could have been saved if both candidates had used this simple approach to the voters.

This is who I am, if you agree with my political philosophy vote for me, if not, vote for my opponent.

What ever your political persuasion, if you don’t vote and things don’t go to suit you, you have no legitimate complaint.

Jim Morris,

Lawrence
