The bride is the daughter of Ray and Phyllis Reed, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Kenneth Spurling and Deloris Cheek, both of Lawrence.

Maid of honor was Lori Winfrey. Best man was Troy Spurling. Bridesmaids were Tracy Hooper, Kim Turner and Cami King. Groomsmen were Travis Spurling, Rich Melton and Tim Norris.

Ushers were Darren Waisner and Tommy Scott. Guest book attendant was Monica McKinney. Candle lighters were K.C. and Kayla Turner. Flower girls were Saylor Winfrey and Savannah Dibben. Ring bearer was Joseph Dibben.

A dinner and dance reception followed the ceremony at Steve’s Place in Lawrence.

Zavarella-Ritchie

Marie Zavarella and Daniel Patrick Ritchie, both of Denver, were married Oct. 25, 2003, at The Parkside Mansion in Denver.

The bride is the daughter of Phillip Zavarella, Alexandria, Va., and Mary Carroll, Greeley, Colo. The groom is the son of George Danny and Annette Parks Ritchie, Lawrence. He is the grandson of Granville Wayne Parks and the late Mildred Hays Parks.

Maid of honor was Jamie Reidy. Best man was Kevin Wilcoxson. Flower girls were Taylor Carroll and Lea Carroll. Ring bearers were Tressa Ritchie and Tori Ritchie.

A reception, dinner and dance followed the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of Metropolitan State College, Denver. She is employed with Craters and Freighters. The groom is a graduate of Kansas University and works as a photographer.

The couple reside in Denver.

Meseraull-Chapin

The bride is the daughter of Clay and Carolee Meseraull, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Martha Chapin, Lawrence, and Lee Chapin, Evansville, Ind. The bride’s grandparents are Herb and Juanita Werst and Wilma Meseraull, all of Lawrence. The groom’s grandparents are Ardella LaVerne Winterburg, Lawrence, and Betty Chapin, Springfield, Mass. Honorary grandmothers were Patie Fielding and Jane Wild.

Matron of honor was Patty Hamel. Best man was John Swinford. Bridesmaids were Ashley Young, Jennifer Reichle, Jessica Gerard and Samantha Lopez. Groomsmen were Jeff Meseraull, Craig Dreiling, Lee Chapin and Roy Winterburg. Flower girls were Greta Hayden and Olivia Reynolds. Ring bearer was Camden Leary. Candle lighters were Kaitlyn Werst and Hailey Winterburg. Junior bridesmaid was Emily Winterburg. Junior groomsman was Ryan Leary. Guest book attendants were Shelly Stumpe and Christina Schneck. The bride is pursuing a degree in business at the University of North Florida. The groom is serving in the U.S. Navy and also attends the University of North Florida.

Stephens-Rabe

Anne Meredith Stephens, Lawrence, and Kyle Steven Rabe, Overland Park, were married July 10, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Paul Gray officiating.

The bride is the daughter of John and Barbara Stephens, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Terry and Pat Rabe, Olathe.

Maid of honor was Laura Stephens. Best man was Anthony DeSantis. Bridesmaids were Meghan Ralston, Megan Rabe, Sarah Phillips and Leslie Phillips. Groomsmen were Brad Bakker, Jonathan Kirsch, Todd White and Gregory Zitterkob. Ushers were Sam Stephens, Ben Stephens, Grant Phillips, Adam Bretch, Andrew Bretch and Logan Smith. Acolytes were Tory MacFarlane and David Gnojek. Flower girls were Bailey Cordill and Madison Weber.

A reception followed the ceremony in the church’s fellowship hall.

The bride is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology in 2002 from Kansas University. She is a graduate student and teaching assistant at KU, where she is studying classical languages.

The groom is a 2000 graduate of Blue Valley North High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in music education from KU in 2004. He is a graduate student at KU and is pursuing his teacher certification.

Hey-Downing

Natalie Hey and Derrick Downing, both of Lawrence, were married April 3, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Baldwin with Pam Morris officiating.

The bride is the daughter of John and Connie Hey, Baldwin. The groom is the son of Lonnie and Carolyn Downing, Lawrence.

The bride graduated from Baldwin High School in 1999 and runs a home day care. The groom graduated from Lawrence High School in 1998. He is employed with ADT Security.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to Mexico. They reside in Lawrence.

Grosdidier-Dodge

Jill Grosdidier, Baldwin, and Mark Dodge, Gardner, were married June 19, 2004, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin with the Rev. Jerry Volz officiating.

The bride’s parents are Mike and Cheryl Grosdidier, Baldwin. The groom’s parents are Lary and Jeanne Dodge, Topeka.

The bride graduated from Baldwin High School and Emporia State University. She is employed by the Gardner school district as an elementary school media specialist.

The groom graduated from Fort Morgan High School, Fort Morgan, Colo., and Washburn University, Topeka. He is employed by De Soto school district as an elementary school physical education teacher.
