Sara Jo Hoobing

? Services for Sara Jo Hoobing, 68, Overland Park, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Mrs. Hoobing died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, in Ottawa.

She was born March 24, 1936, in Walnut Grove, Mo., the daughter of Edgar J. and Doris Riley Pursley. She attended Garfield Grade School in Coffeyville and graduated from Coffeyville High School in 1954. She later earned a dual degree in music and education from Kansas University.

Mrs. Hoobing was a music teacher in Edna before working as a fifth-grade teacher for Shawnee Mission school district. She was assistant county superintendent of Johnson County for several years. She worked at Padgett-Thompson for 10 years until she retired in 2000. She was a member of Leawood Baptist Church for 44 years and a member of the church choir.

She married William Duane Hoobing on June 19, 1960, in Coffeyville. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include her parents, Coffeyville; two sons, Heath Hoobing, Roeland Park, and Kurt Hoobing, Overland Park; and a special childhood friend, Joline Rinard, Shawnee.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
