Leyland George Grammer

Graveside services for Leyland George Grammer, 89, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. today at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.

Mr. Grammer died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 3, 1915, in St. Paul, Neb., the son of George and Dell Grammer.

Mr. Grammer served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a machinist mate second class on the USS Ajax. He worked for Miller Furniture and attended Indian Hills Church of God.

He married Ruby L. Shockley on March 27, 1943. She died June 22, 1985. He married Alvera June Meyer on Oct. 13, 1989. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Doris Rucker, Clearwater, Fla.; Ilene Starbuck, Garnett; a brother, Alvin Grammer, El Cerrito, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
