Ralph Lyle Rees

Services for Ralph Lyle Rees, 73, McLouth, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be in Mount Sidney Cemetery in Linwood.

Mr. Rees died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at his home.

He was born Jan. 29, 1931, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Ralph Joseph and Alma Mae Crabb Rees. He lived in the McLouth area for 17 years.

Mr. Rees served in U.S. Army during the Korean War and played saxophone in the Army Band. He was a machinist for Marley Heating and Cooling Co. in Olathe and owner of Rees Auto Salvage in Lawrence until 1983. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lawrence, Fraternal Order of Eagles Mount Oread Aerie 309 and American Legion Post 225 in Ozawkie.

He married Doris Evans on Dec. 12, 1975, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sandra Rees, of Florida, and Cindy Post, Lawrence; three sons, Steve, Bonner Springs, Gary, Fulton, Mo., and Terry Sloan, Lawrence; a sister, Ellie King, High Pointe, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Visiting Nurses Association of Oskaloosa, sent in care of the mortuary.
