Lied Center to begin Swarthout Chamber Series

String quartet performs Sunday

Cypress String Quartet opens the Lied Center’s Swarthout Chamber Series with a performance at 2 p.m. Sunday. The musicians will premiere “String Quartet No. 2,” a piece written by contemporary composer Dan Coleman to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The Lied Centers of Kansas and Nebraska co-commissioned the work. Coleman will give a talk before the concert.
