City warming up by afternoon

Lawrence shivered this morning, as this morning’s pre-dawn low dipped down to 38.

“It’s kind of cool out there — about 15 degrees cooler than Monday,” Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist said this morning shortly before 8 a.m.

But clear skies and warmer weather are expected today, as the thermometer climbs to a high of 73 by late afternoon, with southeast winds 8-12 mph, Schack said.

“We’ll have sunshine, with just a few high thin clouds.” she said.

Tonight, the temperature won’t be quite as cool, as the thermometer dips down to only 46 by early Wednesday morning.

Wednesday’s high will be 73, with increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, she said. The National Weather Service says there’s a 20 percent chance of showers Wednesday and a 40 percent chance on Wednesday night.

Thursday morning’s low will be 54, with a chance for showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and into Friday, Schack said. The National Weather Service says the chance for rain is 40 percent Thursday, 20 percent Thursday night and 20 percent Friday and Friday night.

High temperatures Thursday through the weekend will be in the upper 60s, Schack said.
