KU shuts down Illinois

Kansas University’s swimming squad shut down Illinois, 185-115, in a dual meet Saturday at Robinson Natatorium, lifting the Jayhawks’ dual record to 2-3.

KU won 12 of the meet’s 16 events. Senior Miranda Isaac and freshman Terri Schramka each earned two individual victories: Isaac in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and Schramka in the 100 and 200 back.

Jayhawk divers swept the two diving events. Junior Casey Topol won the one-meter competition, and sophomore Shelby Noonan topped the three-meter.

“We are very excited about today’s performance,” KU coach Clark Campbell said. “Hopefully the momentum from today’s meet will carry over to the Nike Cup in a couple of weeks.”

The Jayhawks will travel Nov. 18-20 to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the Nike Cup.
