Donald E. Scott

? Graveside services for Donald E. Scott, 85, Overbrook, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry.

Mr. Scott died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Brookside Manor in Overbrook.

He was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Perry, the son of Jessie “J.P.” Poland and Mary Ann Lewis Worthington. He had lived in Lawrence for more than 30 years before moving to Overbrook in 1994.

Mr. Scott owned and operated Don’s Steak House in Lawrence for 27 years and Don’s Steak House in Richland from 1977 to 1983.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Perry American Legion Post No. 142 and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lawrence.

He married Rita Mae Cobb Miller in 1960 in Topeka. She died Sept. 2, 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Robert J. Worthington, Texarkana, Ark., and Michael L. Scott, Lawrence; a daughter, Mary Kay Hurd, Perry; a stepson, Donald Miller, Topeka; a stepdaughter, Judy Meier, Topeka, six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.

The family suggests memorials to Perry American Legion Post No. 142.
