Law enforcement report

Lawrence Police said Thursday that in the past 24 hours they’d handled:

• 215 calls
• 29 reports
• two burglaries
• four thefts
• eight noninjury accidents
• Lawrence police on Wednesday arrested a 41-year-old man on a warrant alleging lewd and lascivious behavior. The charge stems from a 17-year-old girl’s claim that the man made inappropriate sexual comments and gestures toward her Aug. 29 when she came to his home to do clerical work.
• A woman reported a rape to Kansas University police on Oct. 31. The incident occurred between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m. Oct. 31 at Jayhawker Towers.

Injury Accidents

• A Burlington woman was taken to a hospital Thursday after her car hit a deer. Marjory Lynn Gifford, 54, was traveling south on Interstate 35 about four miles south of Ottawa when her 1997 Buick LeSabre hit the deer. Gifford was taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa. A condition report was not available.

Burglaries and thefts reported

• Someone stole more than $27,000 in equipment from Cutler Repaving, 921 E. 27th St., during two thefts in the last month, according to a report. One theft happened between Oct. 15 and Nov. 2. The other happened between 5:10 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to a report.
