FSHS to play at Haskell

Free State High’s Class 6A sub-state football game Friday against Shawnee Mission West will be at Haskell Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.

Free State’s home field is Memorial Stadium, but the KU facility will not be available Friday because of preparations for Saturday’s home game with Colorado.

The Firebirds will be playing their third game at Haskell in the last four weeks. Free State tangled with Topeka High at HINU’s facility three weeks ago because the Memorial Stadium goal posts were razed by KU students following a win over Kansas State.

Two weeks ago, Free State and Lawrence High played at Haskell, the Lions’ home field. Then Free State earned the top seed in its sub-state by winning Friday at Washburn Rural.

Lawrence High advanced in the same district and will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Blue Valley Northwest.
