Doris Hartman West
Services for Doris Hartman West, 82, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion United Church of Christ in Kansas City, Kan. Private burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. West died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Presbyterian Manor.
She was born June 10, 1922, in Roaring Springs, Pa., the daughter of Albert A. and Susan Stauffer Hartman. She graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1940. She later moved to the Kansas City area, where she lived until she moved to Lawrence in 1998.
Mrs. West worked for Brotherhood Bank in Kansas City, Kan., for more than 25 years before she retired in 1989. She was an active member of the church, where she participated in music and Sunday school programs.
She married Jewell “Joe” West on Jan. 15, 1947, in Phoenixville, Pa. He died May 10, 2004.
A grandson also died earlier.
Survivors include a son, Jewell F. West III, Leavenworth; a daughter, Cindy S. West, Lawrence; and a sister, Carol Replogle, Salisbury, Md.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
