Everett Herbert Hoover

Graveside services for Everett Herbert Hoover, 75, Lawrence, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Hoover died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at his home.

He was born April 20, 1929, in Buffalo, Mo., the son of Arthur D. and Lucy Stever Hoover. He moved from Buffalo to Lawrence in 1954.

Mr. Hoover was a chemical operator for the Cooperative Farm Chemical Assn., now Farmland Industries, for 38 years until he retired May 1, 1991.

He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and former member of the Oil, Chemical & Atomic Workers Union. He was a former volunteer at the Lawrence Convention & Visitors Bureau at the Union Pacific Depot in North Lawrence.

He married JoAn Hill on Sept. 17, 1949, in Buffalo. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, David L., Randy and Bruce, all of Lawrence; a sister, Pansy Webb, De Soto; and three grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
