City to consider site plan for proposed homeless shelter

Agenda highlights ¢ 6:35 p.m. Tuesday ¢ City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets ¢

Bottom line

The Lawrence City Commission will consider approving a site plan for a Salvation Army Community Center — including a homeless shelter — on the west side of Haskell Avenue between Lynn and Homewood streets.

Background

The proposal is opposed by neighborhood residents. But the light industrial zoning already in place for the land allows for a shelter there.
