Sheville, N.C. ? Mack Clayton “Babe” Williams, the father of North Carolina men’s basketball coach Roy Williams, has died. He was 76.

Mack Williams died Sunday at his residence. A native of Waynesville, he had lived in the Asheville area since 1955.

Among the survivors are his wife, three children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday.
