Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 25-year-old Lawrence woman reported a Dell computer, a television, candle holders and other property worth a total of $1,071 stolen between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning from her apartment in the 1800 block of West 26th Street.

Emergency calls

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical reported the following responses:

  • A woman in her 70s was bitten by a small copperhead snake about 2 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of 1485 Road south of Lawrence. She sought medical attention but was not transported, said Lt. Kathy Tate, a spokeswoman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The woman was moving furniture on a deck when the snake, lying between two slats of wood, jumped and bit her, Tate said.
