Irene M. Adams

Shawnee ? Graveside services for Irene M. Adams, 83, Shawnee, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.

Mrs. Adams died Saturday, May 15, 2004, in a Kansas City-area nursing home.

She was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Frank Earl and Florence Mackenzie Hambleton. She lived most of her life in the Kansas City area.

Mrs. Adams and her husband owned and operated T.H. Adams Co. for nearly 40 years. Mrs. Adams also was a nanny and a housekeeper for several families for about 15 years until she retired in 1999.

She married Thomas Adams in 1946. He died in 1996.

Survivors include two daughters, Lenette Hamm, Lawrence, and Nancy Clark, Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Mary Billington, Kansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kan., is handling arrangements.
