Douglas E. Young

Services for Douglas E. Young, 52, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Young died Friday, May 14, 2004, at his home.

He was born Dec. 27, 1951, in Lawrence, the son of Jasper E. “Red” and Norma Jean Williams Young.

He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1971. He worked for Stanion Wholesale Electric Co. as a salesman for 33 years.

Mr. Young also coached baseball for the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department.

He married Peggy Rogers in June 1971. They later divorced. He married Ellen French on Sept. 20, 1980, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include his mother, Lawrence; a son, Jeff, Lecompton; three daughters, Kelly Young Rhoades, Ottawa, Kim Young, Topeka, and Kristina Young, Lawrence; a brother, Rick, Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister, Debbie Bray, Marionville, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 p.m to 9 p.m today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The family suggests memorials to the Williams Fund at Kansas University or Lawrence High School girls softball, sent in care of the funeral home.
