Five Jayhawks qualify

? Five Kansas University track athletes qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday at the Ward Haylett Invitational.

Junior Sondra Rauterkus finished third in the high jump, clearing 5-feet, 8-inches, and sophomore Charisse Bacchus took fourth place in the long jump, leaping 20-3.

Senior Jamie Waters placed fifth in the hammer throw after a heave of 173-10, and junior Megan Foster finished third in the javelin after a mark of 142-1.

KU junior Brandon Hodges posted a season-best time of 1:50.32 in the 800-meter run.

Senior Leo Bookman ran unattached and won the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash titles.

The Jayhawks’ next action will come at the Midwest Regional in College Station, Texas, on May 28-29.
