Valley Falls Services for Ruth May Baker, 81, Valley Falls, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls. Burial will be in Winchester-Wise Cemetery.
Mrs. Baker died Friday, May 14, 2004, at Village Villa Care Center in Nortonville.
She was born July 11, 1922, in Easton, the daughter of August and Daisy Allen Manthe. She moved from Winchester to Valley Falls in 1986.
Mrs. Baker was a certified medical aide at Jefferson County Geriatrics Center in Winchester for more than 20 years until she retired in 1985. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Valley Falls and a former member of Hebron Baptist Church.
She married Fred E. Baker on July 13, 1940, in Oskaloosa. He died Nov. 7, 1993. A daughter, Kay Baker, also died earlier.
Survivors include five sons, Frederick Baker, Gary Baker, both of Leavenworth, Roy Baker, Wellsville, Larry D. Baker, Ozawkie, and Ronnie Baker, Nortonville; a daughter, Beth Eyestone, Wellington, Fla.; three brothers, Donald Manthe, Atchison, Ivan Manthe, Follett, Texas, and Joe Manthe, Leavenworth; two sisters, Barbara Lawson, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Hazel Joyce, Leavenworth; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
