Myrna O. Bethell Johnson

? Services for Myrna O. Bethell Johnson, 92, Pomona, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa.

Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa.

She was born Oct. 4, 1911, in Homewood, the daughter of Clyde Earl and Jennie Morris Bethell. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident and had lived in the Greenwood community, Pomona and Ottawa. She graduated from Appanoose High School in 1930.

Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker. She worked several winters in the early 1950s at Willis Nursery in Ottawa.

She was the last founding member of Centropolis Baptist Church and was a member of the ladies church group. She helped organize the Pomona Flower Club.

She married Clovis Emery Johnson on Feb. 25, 1934, in Ottawa. He died Nov. 1, 1999.

A granddaughter also died earlier.

Survivors include a daughter, Marie Sims, Ottawa; a son, Marion Johnson, Wichita; a sister, Erma Dehn, Topeka; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary, where family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
