Five Lawrence teachers are among the 21 participants selected for this year's East Asia Field Study Tour organized by Kansas University's Center for East Asian Studies.
The teachers will visit China and Japan from June 7-26.
The program is funded by the Freeman Foundation of New York and Stowe, Vt. The goal is to enhance education about East Asia in the upper elementary through high school curriculum.
Local participants are Melissa Stucky, Hillcrest and Broken Arrow schools; Debra Denson, Free State High School; Katie Becker, Hillcrest School; Michael Ortmann, Lawrence High School; and Danielle Lotton-Barker, Southwest Junior High School.
