Medical resident sentenced in fraud
A Kansas University Medical Center employee received a 15-month federal prison sentence Monday for using a fraudulent Social Security number.
Wayel Aly Nureldin, 45, Kansas City, Kan., listed in KU’s directory as a medical resident, was sentenced by Judge G. Thomas VanBebber after pleading guilty in January.
In the plea, Nureldin admitted he fraudulently obtained the Social Security number to get a medical license so he could get a job in KU’s graduate medical education program.
Nureldin initially was charged with defrauding Medicare.
