Warmer weather expected in afternoon

The Lawrence area might see a drip or two of rain this morning. But most of the major storms will be to the north, said Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist.

“In the afternoon, we’ll see partly cloudy skies,” Sayers said. Temperatures are expected to move into the middle 70s this afternoon, with the high reaching 75.

“If you like the 80s, then you’re going to like this week,” Sayers said.

Wednesday morning’s temperature will start at 55 and the thermometer will reach a high of 87 degrees, with southerly winds 10 to 20 mph.

By Thursday, near record highs are expected. Thursday morning’s temperature will start at 65, with the high reaching 89.

Friday’s temperatures will start at 66 and reach a high of 88. The summer-like weather continuess on Saturday, starting with a low of 68, climbing to a high of 85.
