Jayhawks unveil schedule

Kansas University’s volleyball team will open the 2004 season with an alumni match and eight nonconference contests before Big 12 Conference play begins in mid-September, coach Ray Bechard announced Monday.

Highlighting the Jayhawks’ non-conference schedule will be NCAA Tournament teams Arkansas and Wisconsin. KU will have 14 regular-season home matches, including 10 Big 12 contests.

The Jayhawks will have a four-game homestand at the Horejsi Center in late September which features Texas (Sept. 25) and Nebraska (Sept. 29). In-state rival Kansas State comes to town Oct. 6, and the Border War with Missouri will continue Oct. 16.

The regular season culminates Nov. 27 when KU will play host to Colorado on Senior Night, paying tribute to four seniors — Jill Dorsey, Ashley Bechard, Ashley Michaels and Lindsey Morris.
