James Arthur Lutz

— Services for James Arthur Lutz, 61, Lenexa, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Burial with military honors will be in Mayetta Cemetery.

Mr. Lutz died Monday, March 29, 2004, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., from complications after surgery.

He was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Holton, the son of Oscar "Bud" and Waneva (Edwards) Lutz. He graduated from Mayetta High School in 1960 and later from Clark's School of Business. He also attended Washburn University in Topeka.

Mr. Lutz served in the U.S. Army from June 1960 to December 1963. He completed basic training at Fort Riley and was stationed in Korea and Germany. He worked for 28 years for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co. in Topeka. He moved in 1994 to Olathe, where he was employed by Rush Delivery until an accident on March 9, 2001, left him paralyzed.

He was a member of the Olathe Wesleyan Church.

He married Beverly Morrissey in June 1964 in Holton. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Allen J., Arlington, Texas, and Darren, Hollywood, Calif.; a daughter, Jami Growney, Olathe, formerly of Lawrence; his mother, Mayetta; a sister, Lois Zeller, Holton; a brother, Bruce, Mayetta; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home, where family and friends will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today.

Another memorial service is planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Olathe Wesleyan Church.
