Father, son plead guilty in robbery using drill

A father and son have pleaded guilty to trying to rob a Pizza Hut in suburban Kansas City with a cordless drill.

Donald R. Stroble, 32, of Independence, Mo., admitted last week to second-degree attempted robbery in the December incident. He was sentenced to five years in prison, with a judge’s option of placing him on probation after 120 days.

George M. Stroble Jr., 63, of Kansas City, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery. He was sentenced to time served.

According to court documents, Donald Stroble entered an Independence Pizza Hut and demanded money and a car. Witnesses said he appeared to have a gun under his jacket.

Stroble ran out of the store after he was told he couldn’t be given a car or money.

George Stroble was outside of the restaurant at the time, asking for directions.

The two left on foot and were picked up by police shortly afterward.
