Lecture

Vietnam vet, author to speak at museum

A Vietnam veteran will speak about his book, “Ghost Writer,” at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Watkins Community Museum of History.

The museum, 1047 Mass., invited Stephen Casterline, a KU alumnus and Kansas City native, to speak as part of its free Vietnam Lecture Series.

Casterline served in Vietnam as a U.S. Navy corpsman on the U.S.S. Repose from 1966 to 1967. He will read excerpts from his book, which recorded the “last letters home” from the dying soldiers he cared for in an intensive care unit during the war.

Books will be available to buy, and a book signing will follow the lecture.
