Chase county ? The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Chase County has expanded the hours of operation for its two hiking trails, the National Park Service announced earlier this week.

Both trails — the 1 3/4-mile Southwind Nature Trail and the 3/4-mile Bottomland Trail — are now open every day during daylight hours, conditions permitting.

The preserve is two miles north of Strong City on Kansas Highway 177. More information is available by emailing tapr_interpretation@nps.gov or by calling (620) 273-8489.
