KU women last after first round

? Kansas University’s women’s golf team was in 18th place — in an 18-team field — after the first round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. The Jayhawks shot a 349 first-round total to begin the three-day tournament at the 6,247-yard, par-72 Hills Country Club.

Texas leads with a score of 309, followed by UNLV (313) and Vanderbilt (316).

Senior Jennifer Bawanan carded an 83 and led the Jayhawks by being tied for 49th place.

Sophomore Tiffany Woods was tied for 69th place after an 86 total. Sophomore Chelsey Pryor shot an 88 and is tied for 75th place. Freshman Amanda Costner carded a 92 and was in 86th place. Freshman Jill Womble is tied for 92nd at 95.

The second round begins at 8 a.m. today.
