I’ve had a recent hankering to use the words “blackjack” and “Jack Black” in the same sentence. Thanks to the serendipity of tonight’s TV schedule, I just did.

The Game Show Network devotes seven one-hour episodes to the “World Series of Blackjack” (9 p.m., Game Show). The hosts are Matt Vasgersian and Melana Scantlin (“Average Joe”).

Jack Black (“School of Rock”) guest stars on the new sitcom “Cracking Up” (7:30 p.m., Fox), making its time-slot premiere. Black joins series star Jason Schwartzman as a gung-ho counselor whose “scared straight” tactics prove counter-productive.

• The newest version of “Dangerous Liaisons” (7 p.m., WE) is set in 1860s Paris, where the wealthy Madame de Merteuil (Catherine Deneuve) schemes with her ex-lover Valmont (Rupert Everett) and toys with hopes and affections of younger women (Leelee Sobieski and Nastassja Kinski).
• Here are three words nobody wants to hear: Average Joe Returns. Actually, the title of tonight’s show is “Average Joe: Adam Returns” (9 p.m., NBC). Does anybody remember, or even care, which bachelor won Melana’s, er, I mean Larissa’s, heart just two weeks ago? Tonight, Adam Mesh, the unshaven self-made millionaire, comes back to look for love amidst a bevy of lovelies in a new series that is mercifully only four weeks long.

• Accidents will happen on “That ’70s Show” (7 p.m., Fox,).
• Marlo Thomas stars as the wife of an executive who becomes the chief suspect in his demise in the 2004 made-for-cable mystery “Deceit” (7 p.m., Lifetime).
• Kathleen Turner is host of the three-part series “The Sexiest Moments in Film” (7 p.m., Bravo).
• Frank’s crusty lodge pals swoon for Debra on “Everybody Loves Raymond” (8 p.m., CBS).
• Cheerleaders and soccer hooligans converge on the casino on “Las Vegas” (8 p.m., NBC).
• A diamond dealer’s death on “CSI: Miami” (9 p.m., CBS).
• Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Or at least watch it in repeats. Hence, shows like “Teen Idols of the ’80s” (9 p.m., E!).

Late night

Jim Carrey appears on “Late Show with David Letterman” (10:35 p.m., CBS) … Jay Leno welcomes Ben Affleck on “The Tonight Show” (10:35 p.m., NBC).

Dave Chappelle chats on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” (11:35 p.m., NBC).
