Boy Scout Troop 56, chartered to United Methodist Church of Lecompton, had a Court of Honor March 8 at the church. Frank Wright gave a Friends of Scouting presentation. Phillip Foos earned the Tenderfoot rank, and Josh Hurst earned the Scout rank. Sean Van Dyke and Seth Zahniser received the Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge.

Phillip Foos, Josh Hurst, Sean Van Dyke, Seth Zahniser, Zack Larson and Donald Neavitt earned camping beads. Adult leaders Betty Foos, Nelson Van Dyke and Steve Zahniser also earned camping beads.

Cub Scout Pack 3462, chartered to Langston Hughes School, had its annual Blue and Gold Banquet Feb. 20 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Webelos Sam Cokins, Nolan Frank, Ranjeet Ghorpade, Connor Schmidt and Scott Regan earned their Arrow of Light and participated in a formal “crossing over” ceremony. Many other awards were distributed. Rod Zinn and Barry Frank made a presentation on behalf of the Friends of Scouting.

Boy Scout Troop 52, chartered to First United Methodist Church, had its annual pancake feed fund-raiser on March 7 in the basement of the church. The following boys helped: Wesley Hinkle, Justin Deaver, Wesley Tedlock, Logan Hinkle, Matthew Fish, Charlie Turner, Brandon Mailand, Brendan Golledge, Dom Reiske, Michael Smith, Tristan Wagner, Steve Wilson, Alek Joyce, Nick Joseph, Will Sharp, Douglas Rawlings, Tim Barta, Mason McCurdy, Todd Roberts, Henry Reiske, Stuart Gilreath, David Ohlhausen, Stefan Kuczera, David Long and Eric Long. They were assisted by adult leaders Rowley Tedlock, Rod Zinn, Dudley Crow, Chris Golledge, Rachel Kaslaitis, Michelle Mailand, Nancy Wilson, Tammy Barta, Kyndol Ohlhausen, Harry Smith, Mark Reiske, Bruce Wagner, Ralena McCurdy, Jim Joyce, Richard Rawlings, Wayne Deaver and Sonya Maness-Turner.
