Clapton shares ‘deep’ art

London — Eric Clapton unveiled his design for a benefit T-shirt, though he wasn’t sure what the imagery symbolized.

Sales of the shirt — featuring a golden sunburst and smiling face against a blue backdrop — will benefit the Crossroads Centre, an alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility he founded on the Caribbean island of Antigua.

“It’s been in my head all my life and goes deep with me but I don’t know what it means or what it’s supposed to express,” Clapton said Friday.

The 58-year-old musician has himself fought drug and alcohol addiction.

Fox respects Rodney’s book

Los Angeles — Rodney Dangerfield is getting some respect.

Fox Television has secured rights to the “No Respect” comic’s upcoming HarperCollins autobiography, “It’s Not Easy Bein’ Me: A Lifetime of No Respect but Plenty of Sex and Drugs.”

“I’m excited that Fox is making a movie on my life story, but I hope they do it soon! I’m 82 years old,” Dangerfield said. “At my age, I’m looking for a one-night sit! I’m thrilled about finishing my first book. Now I’m going to read another one.”

‘Wardrobe malfunction’ in lexicon

New York — The Janet Jackson bare breast incident during the Super Bowl halftime show is among this year’s events recognized as changing the way we speak.

A group that analyzes the latest trends in word usage declared “wardrobe malfunction” as Hollywood’s top word or phrase for impact on the English language.

Justin Timberlake snatched off part of Jackson’s bustier during the halftime show, revealing a breast clad only in a sun-shaped “nipple shield.” Timberlake said there had been a “wardrobe malfunction.”

Prince CD a concert souvenir

New York — Prince fans who buy tickets to his upcoming concerts will get a bonus — his new CD.

The singer, who will begin his first arena tour in six years on March 29, had been negotiating with several major labels to release his upcoming album, “Musicology,” said his publicist, Ronnie Lippin.

However, the 45-year-old musician decided instead to give away the disc at his concerts.

“Every person who buys a ticket to his concert will walk away with a free CD,” Lippin said.

Prince will be inducted Monday into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His tour will take him to 38 cities, including a May 4 concert at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Mo.
