Companions for elderly needed

Trinity Respite Care’s attendant care volunteers help elderly clients with basic supervision, companionship, transportation to doctor appointments, shopping, light housework, meal preparation and yard work. Volunteers are needed to help fill these needs and to relieve regular caregivers. These volunteers would spend time on a flexible schedule with the client, usually providing supervision and companionship.

Immediate volunteer needs

  • The Douglas County Senior Meals program needs a volunteer at the Senior Center meal site, 745 Vt. The volunteer will help package lunches for home delivery and help serve those who dine at the site. Volunteers are asked to make a regular commitment, which may be arranged to fit their schedules.   • The Lawrence Arts Center Gallery Shop sells the work of local artists. Volunteers are needed to staff the shop from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month and from noon to 5 p.m. on Mondays. Gallery volunteers welcome shoppers, write receipts for purchases, run credit cards, make change, and open and close the shop. Training will be provided.
