Joseph Allen Russell

? Graveside services for Joseph Allen Russell, 59, Moundville, Mo., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michaels Cemetery, Fulton.

Mr. Russell died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, in an automobile accident near Eve, Mo.

He was born May 24, 1944, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of James and Ruth (Selbe) Russell.

Mr. Russell graduated from Fulton High School in 1962.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and later retired as a bridge builder for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He moved from Newton to the Fort Scott area in 1994.

He married Nancy Jane Brillhart in 1963. They divorced.

Mr. Russell was a member of the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Fort Scott, the Elks Clubs in Newton and Fort Scott, the Newton Knights of Columbus and the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

Survivors include his mother, Fort Scott; a son, Rex, Lawrence; a daughter, Jennifer Diel, Shawnee; 10 brothers, Jerry, Don and Kevin, all of Fort Scott, Jim, Codell, Leo Jay, Natoma, Jesse, Newton, Robert, Lansing, Dennis, San Diego, Wayne, Easton and Charles, Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Louise Roy, Berryville, Va., and Maurita Russell, Fort Scott; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel in Fort Scott.
