Nona Aileen Tollefson

Memorial services for Nona Aileen Tollefson, 67, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Plymouth Congregational Church. Private burial will be at a later date at Pioneer Cemetery.

Mrs. Tollefson died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Midland Hospice in Topeka.

She was born July 31, 1936, in Grand Island, Neb., the daughter of Grant and Marguerite (Wicker) Falmlen.

She received her Bachelor of Science in education and counseling from the University of Colorado in Boulder and her doctorate in education from Purdue University.

Mrs. Tollefson had been a professor at Kansas University School of Education in the department of psychology and research education since 1967. Before coming to Lawrence, she taught at Tulane University for five years. She was active in many Lawrence organizations.

She married John O. Tollefson on Aug. 27, 1961, in Grand Island, Neb. He died Aug. 7, 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Tollefson, Manhattan; two sons, John Tollefson, Lawrence, and Bill Tollefson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a brother, Fred Falmlen, Grand Island, Neb.; a sister, Sanoa Hensley, Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandsons.

The family suggests memorials to KU Endowment Association, for the Tollefson Fellowship in Data-Based Education Research, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
