Gary E. Farrell

Services for Gary E. Farrell, 65, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Wellsville Cemetery.

Mr. Farrell died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at his home.

He was born Aug. 18, 1938, in LeLoup, the son of Ted and Naomi Madlem Farrell.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Farrell worked at Lawrence Paper Co. and Perry Manufacturing. He retired in March 2004 after 41 years of service.

He served 25 years as board president for the Jayhawk Federal Credit Union.

Mr. Farrell was a member of Lawrence Free Methodist Church and served as Bible study and prayer group leader. He also was a former 4-H project leader.

He married Dixie Lambert on Feb. 16, 1963, in Ottawa. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Julie Tesmer, Waldorf, Md., and Michele Rutledge, Lawrence; a brother, Raymond, Shawnee; three sisters, Gailya Collins, Kansas City, Mo., Phillis Farrell, Overland Park, and Marjorie Lintner, Wellsville; and six grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the church, Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or Hospice Care in Douglas County, sent in care of the mortuary.
