Beer-bottle incident lands Eudoran in jail

Police arrested a 20-year-old Eudora man early Thursday on suspicion of hitting another man in the head with a beer bottle in the parking lot of University Audio, 2319 La.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. as people were hanging out in the business’ parking lot, said Sgt. Mike Pattrick, a police spokesman. The victim, a 24-year-old Lawrence man who works at the business, was cut on his neck, Pattrick said.

The suspect, Leo J. Johnston, was charged Thursday with one count of aggravated battery and was in the Douglas County Jail with bond set at $8,000.

Rollover accident kills 1967 LHS grad

A 1967 graduate of Lawrence High School was killed Tuesday when his car rolled over in Johnson County.

Kenny Ray Martin, 56, Olathe, was alone in his car and not wearing a seat belt when the car rolled about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near 170th Street and Quivira Road in Overland Park.

Martin was married last Saturday. His funeral is scheduled for this Saturday.
