Leone Bernadine Twichell

? Services for Leone Bernadine Twichell, 96, Baldwin, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin.

Mrs. Twichell died Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 19, 1907, in Colby, the daughter of Thomas R. and Jennie B. Sible Campbell.

She attended grade school in Colby before moving to Baldwin, where she graduated from Baldwin High School in 1926. She attended Baker University before transferring to Emporia State University, where she earned her teaching certificate.

Mrs. Twichell moved to Fresno, Calif., in 1938 and returned to Baldwin in 1943.

Mrs. Twichell taught at several rural schools including Independence and Hopewell. She was a substitute teacher at Baldwin Elementary School for several years.

Mrs. Twichell worked for the post office in Baldwin until she retired in 1966.

She was a member of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and was president of the Garden Club.

She married Eugene Victor Twichell on Jan. 2, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo. He died in 1980.

Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Rockhold, Olathe, and Burdine Taylor, Baldwin; seven grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
