Watch your kids

To the editor:

In response to your list of safety tips on child molesting (J-W, Wednesday), I think your last bullet point should have been: Never allow children to play alone in a park — period.

A 5- and 8-year old child should never be allowed in a park unsupervised, even if your house is across the street. This situation says it all.

Your last bullet also sends a subliminal message that the park was already dangerous (previous problems). Even if there have been problems in the past, the real issue here is that two children were left alone.

When are adults going to realize children should not be left alone? Everyone has had their moments of stupidity, but your child should not have to bear the brunt of it.
