Washington to enter Hall

Former Kansas University coach Marian Washington will be one of six inductees into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn.

Washington and the others formally will be enshrined during a ceremony Saturday night at the Knoxville Convention Center Lecture Hall.

Washington retired in February after 31 years as the Jayhawks’ coach. During that span, she compiled a record of 560-363, won seven conference titles and had KU in 16 postseason tourneys.

The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, which opened in June of 1999, will have 79 members following the inductions.

Ex-KU aide hired

Tim Eatman, who had two stints on Marian Washington’s staff at Kansas University, was hired Monday as an assistant women’s coach at Louisville.

Eaton spent the last two seasons at KU, rejoining Washington’s staff after four seasons as a head coach at Illinois-Chicago University.

Eatman’s first stint at Kansas was from 1996-1998. He has also coached at South Alabama, Iowa, Houston and Mississippi State.
