Campus job applications made available online

The job application process at Kansas University has entered the 21st century.

Thanks to newly installed computer software, all applications for campus jobs now will be submitted via the Internet.

“The new system will decrease paper processing, allow 24-hour access to applicants and expedite our hiring processes,” said Ola Faucher, human resources director.

The new application system, called PeopleAdmin, went live late last month. Job postings and applications can be found at http://jobs.ku.edu.

Faucher said 90 other universities already had begun using the PeopleAdmin program. She said the switch should save staff time and money.

“There will be less paper shuffling,” she said. “As resources are less available, we have to look for smarter ways to utilize time, staff and resources.”

KU jobs will continue to be listed in traditional sources, such as newspapers and the Oread, the faculty/staff newsletter.

Those on search committees can access applicant information, including online resumes that are submitted.

For those without Internet access, Faucher said the human resources department, located in 109 Carruth-O’Leary Hall, has computers available for filling out applications. Staff also are available to assist those who aren’t computer savvy.

“It might be a challenge for people who are a little uneasy around computers,” she said. “But it’s a simple application form. It’s very user-friendly software.”
