Another tropical day expected

Sticky and hot conditions are expected again today in the Lawrence area, with a slight chance of rain.

“We’re starting out with sunshine…As we have more cloud cover rolling in, there’s a chance for a few sprinkles,” said Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist. “We may see a brief shower around the noon hour.”

The temperature before 8 a.m. was in the mid 70s, with the humidity at 85 percent. Patchy clouds were expected for the rest of the day, with the high reaching 87. Breezy conditions were expected to continue today, with southerly winds 15-20 mph, and some gusts up to 30, Sayers said.

The best chance for rain this week will be in the middle of the day on Wednesday, he said. “It’s a 30 percent chance. That’s the best chance we get for the next several days.”

The overnight low will drop to 71 by Wednesday morning. The temperature will hover in the middle to lower 80s most of Wednesday, with the high reaching 83.

Thursday’s morning low will be 71, with the high warming up to 91.
