The Lawrence man found Tuesday morning with mysterious head injuries is in serious condition this morning at a Kansas City-area hospital.

Travis D. Adams, 20, is going in and out of consciousness but still isn’t able to talk, said Lt. David Cobb, a Lawrence Police spokesman.

Police say Adams might have been the victim of a beating but aren’t certain because they haven’t interviewed him.

Adams’ mother found him early Tuesday covered with blood inside the apartment they share at Westgate Apartments, 4641 W. 6th St. Neighbors said it appeared he left a trail of blood through the complex — for example, on an exterior wall of one building and on a porch swing at another building — before making it into his apartment.
