Burnis D. Fowler

Services for Burnis D. Fowler, 71, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Assembly of God Church in Brinkley, Ark. Burial will be in Moro Cemetery in Moro, Ark.

Mr. Fowler died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 29, 1933, in Marianna, Ark., the son of Roy Fowler and Dola Fay Roberts. He grew up in Moro, Ark.

Mr. Fowler joined the Air Force in 1953 and did basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He retired in 1977 as senior master sergeant flight engineer. He served in the United States, Great Britain and South Vietnam. He then worked for Long John Silvers in Lawrence and Topeka, retiring in 1998. He also worked for Westridge Car Wash in Topeka.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 62 in Altus, Okla., and Berkshire Golf Club in Topeka.

He married June Campbell on June 20, 1952, in Moro, Ark. They divorced; she survives. He married Cheryll Harmon on Dec. 18, 1992, in Miami, Okla. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Elton, Benton, Ark.; a daughter, Cynthia Gant, Whitney, Texas; a stepdaughter, Pennie Renfro, Lawrence; two brothers, Roy Dale and Jackie, both of Blytheville, Ark.; six sisters, Bonnie Mize, Winn, Ark., Verma Campbell and Nina Eans, both of Des Arc, Ark., Emma Cook and Nelda Hankins, both of Brinkley, Ark., and Linda Roberts, Greers Ferry, Ark.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A son, Denny, died April 23, 2004.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today. The family will also receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Fowler Funeral Home in Brinkley, Ark.
