Winfred Lorin Newman

Leavenworth ? A reception for friends and relatives of Winfred Lorin Newman, 94, Leavenworth, will be at 3 p.m. today at the Eagles Club, 300 S. 20th St., Leavenworth.

Mr. Newman died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Cushing Memorial Hospital, Leavenworth.

He was born Nov. 7, 1909, in Edgerton, Mo., the son of W.E. and Flora Stiff Newman.

He served in the Marines during World War II, and he owned and operated American Vending.

Mr. Newman married Vashti Winterburg in 1940 in Kansas City, Kan. She died in 1989.

Survivors include a sister, Helen June Roser, Manhattan.

The family suggests memorials to Leavenworth Public Library or Cushing Memorial Hospital, sent in care of Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth 66048.
