Joseph W. ‘Dub’ Hillebert

Services for Joseph W. “Dub” Hillebert, 82, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Vinland Cemetery.

Mr. Hillebert died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at his home.

He was born July 25, 1921, in Platte County, Mo., the son of Roy Lee and Sadie Retta Bozarth Hillebert.

Mr. Hillebert attended Stoney Point School. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a truck driver and self-employed farmer. He lived in Lawrence from 1925 to 1969 and then in Frontenac from 1969 to 1983, when he moved to Eudora. He attended Elm Grove Baptist Church, and he was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Pittsburg Baptist Temple.

He married Lois L. Minor on Dec. 11, 1952, in Leavenworth. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include six sons, Delbert, West Palm Beach, Fla., John and Roy, both of Eudora, Joseph Jr., Mulberry, Teddy, Caro, Mich., and Bruce French, Fair Grove, Mo.; six daughters, Sadie Coon, Lora Victoria Hillebert and Joan Ellis, all of Eudora, Rowena Hillebert, Overland Park, Elizabeth Kuran, Norwalk, Conn., and Marilyn Smardo, Franklin; a sister, Lydia Jones, Lawrence; 32 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

A son and a daughter died earlier.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, Capper Foundation for Crippled Children or Hospice Care in Douglas County, sent in care of the funeral home.
