Scott Edward Parkinson

? Services for Scott Edward Parkinson, 27, Buffalo, N.Y., will be at 3 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church in Buffalo. Private burial will be at a later date near McLean, Va.

Mr. Parkinson died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, after being stricken at his home. The cause of death has not been determined.

He was born Aug. 27, 1976, in Washington, D.C., the son of Leonard and Judith Gorton Parkinson. He was the grandson of the late Thomas Gorton, dean emeritus of the School of Fine Arts at Kansas University, and the late Catherine Gorton.

He grew up in McLean, Va., where he was a longtime Boy Scout. He attended McLean High School and was a member of the McLean Highlanders Band. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree and a Performer’s Certificate from Eastman School of Music, and a Master of Music degree from Juilliard School.

After graduating from Juilliard, Mr. Parkinson joined the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra as second trombonist; he became principal trombonist in January. He was an adjunct professor of trombone at the State University of New York at Fredonia, and he also taught privately.

He performed with other orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, the Houston Symphony and the National Repertory Orchestra.

He married Robin Leech Parkinson on Sept. 1, 2002. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include his parents and a sister, Jennifer Ann Parkinson.
